The Houston Gunners is a registered 501 C (3) nonprofit organization, that was founded in October 1994 by Houston Police Officers to raise funds for charitable organizations through full-contact football.  Several of these charities are the

• Assist the Officer foundation - provides partial financial support to Police Officers who are injured or disabled
• Greater Houston Pop Warner - a nonprofit national little league program  - Pop Warner Little Scholars Inc.

Profits from home football games are directed towards these charities, primary for the needs of children and adults, most of whom are under privileged and rely on charitable organizations for assistance and support in their formative years. Proceeds from the regularly scheduled football games will be donated to  Assist the Officer Foundation and Greater Houston Pop Warner.
